“The proprietors have done a really good job of making people feel welcome”

“Starting a round Britain trip and the start point is Barmouth. This hotel is really delightful. The proprietors have done a really good job of making people feel welcome and every attention to detail. I am in a single room which has everything you need and is very comfortable. I had dinner in the restaurant and it was really excellent. Also, the ambience of the restaurant and the service could not be faulted. I just hope that all of the hotels and restaurants over the next four weeks will in some way reach the high standards of the Ty’r Graig Castle.”

“Was a great little break”

“This castle, yes, a castle! Was a great little break staying in an 18th-century building was a great experience with charming decor of the era plus a fantastic sea and coastal view set on the side of a mountain. We stayed in a turret room on the 2nd floor (not advisable for disabled as no lift) with a four poster bed in the middle of the room either side of spectacular sea view windows. The room always felt cold as the heating was not on but was charmingly unusual. We had B&B so sampled the 1st night’s dinner menu I had steak which was very nice the wife had a curry in which she enjoyed! The dining area was romantic and overlooking the spectacular sea view! We then walked into Barmouth which was approximately a mile and a half away which was a pleasant walk. The breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice! I will leave some pics for your perusal.”

“The staff are all very helpful and nothing is too much trouble”

“Just returned from the castle after a fab w/end in Barmouth, the hotel is situated in a lovely spot overlooking the beach about 10 minutes’ walk from the town centre. We stayed in a turret room which was lovely, although the bathroom was a little small it did not distract from our stay. The food was excellent, lovely breakfast, and evening meals were superb especially the venison and duck. The staff are all very helpful and nothing is too much trouble, all in all a most enjoyable stay, we will be back.”

“Ty'r Graig Castle is definitely the place to stay”

“What a beautiful quirky place! Totally unexpected. From the moment you entered the heavy wooden doors and stepped inside the wood panelled lobby you felt as if you had been transported into another era. We were greeted by a fascinating host who enthralled me with his tales of famous people he had worked with during his stage career. I could have stayed for hours listening to his stories. A true thespian! We were given a balcony room, with the most amazing view of the seafront. A shame the weather was dismal. The room itself was large and comfortable, with tea and coffee-making facilities. Basic bathroom amenities were provided. If I have to have a complaint, then perhaps the shower needed to be modernised - but that is a teeny complaint. Breakfast was excellent, with a full cooked English breakfast or kippers provided as the hot option. All up, if you want something a little quirky and oldie worldly in Barmouth, then Ty'r Graig Castle is definitely the place to stay.”
